RIGHT PLYWOOD FOR YOUR MODULAR KITCHEN

RIGHT PLYWOOD FOR YOUR MODULAR KITCHEN

How to choose the right plywood for YOUR MODULA KITCHEN

The kitchen is the heart of the home, but it’s also a high-moisture zone. Choosing the right core material for your modular kitchen cabinets is critical for longevity. Using the wrong plywood can lead to warping, fungal attacks, and ply separation within a few years.

BWP vs. BWR vs. MR Grade

MR (Moisture Resistant) Grade: This is commercial plywood suitable for dry areas like bedrooms and living rooms. It is NOT recommended for kitchens.

BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) Grade: Better than MR, this exterior grade plywood can withstand some moisture but is not waterproof.

BWP (Boiling Water Proof) Grade: This is the gold standard for kitchens. Often called “Marine Ply” (though true marine ply is different), BWP grade plywood can withstand prolonged exposure to water and humidity without delaminating.

Why We Recommend BWP for Kitchens

At OmRudra, we strictly use BWP grade plywood (IS:710) for all our modular kitchen “wet areas” (under the sink, near the dishwasher). It ensures your investment remains safe from water damage and termites.

Laminates and Finishes

Once you have the right core, pair it with high-pressure laminates or acrylic finishes that are easy to clean and heat resistant. This combination guarantees a kitchen that looks great and lasts a lifetime.
